Shared Decision-Making Sandwich
During clinical conversations with patients, we can use the “shared decision-making sandwich” to build rapport and trust, center clients in the conversation, provide relevant information in a way that is digestible, and assist patient to integrate information.
The sandwich contains three components:
Acknowledgement (top piece of bread)
Content/Information (“filling” of the sandwich)
Follow up question (bottom piece of bread)
